Your Dream Board
Friday, January 01, 2010

By now you should have already sat down and made a list of goals. If you haven't done this yet, refer to GPN Business Basics 101. Once you have spent some time on this exercise you are ready to create your Dream Board. Your Dream Board will become a visual, daily stimulus.

Gather a huge stack of old magazines, a pair of scissors, and some glue. Put on some happy, soothing music and sit down where you'll be comfortable. Start flipping through the magazines looking for any pictures, words, or phrases that illustrate your dreams and goals. For example, if one of my goals was a new BMW, I will look for a BMW advertisement. The more specific the better. If you know exactly what model BMW you want, then find a picture of that exact one. If you want to spend more time with friends, find a picture of people spending time together. Include something that indicates service to your fellow man. Remember, your dream board must harmonize with your integrity and values.

There a variety of ways you can make your dream board. Some people will use a large piece of poster board, a bulletin board or a white board. Your Dream Board must be pleasing to you. When you look at it, you should get a warm happy conviction that you're looking at a slice of life that you would be happy to experience. Once you choose your medium go ahead and arrange all of your photos, clippings and words.

After you've arranged and glued all your pictures onto your dream board, it's time to put it up. You can mount it in your bedroom, bathroom, office or kitchen. Have fun choosing a spot where you know you'll see your dream board every day. Look at it with pleasure. Visualize it becoming a reality.

Then, hang on! It's sometimes surprising how quickly our desires manifest once we've spent time making a dream board. And once you see this one coming true, get busy on your next one. You'll want to have a constant cycle of dream boards circling through your house!
