Characteristics of a Blue Diamond Leader
Submitted by John Sexsmith on Thursday, May 07, 2009
Here is a question that people ask me with great frequency…

“What according to you, John, is the profile of a successful Blue Diamond in Nu Skin? What are the special characteristics and qualities required to make it to Blue Diamond or Team Elite?”

First there are no special qualities required to be a distributor but certain characteristics are required to be successful and achieve a Blue Diamond Pin Level.  These characteristics need to be cultivated to stay focused and productive in the achievement of Blue Diamond.

We could name many characteristics that make up a Blue Diamond leader but here are the ones that are most important.

Have a Good Memory – Have a good memory so you can compare and watch the progress in yourself. Observe how you answer questions, what you say to people and their reactions to your words. Observe if you are "telling" people facts or are you putting information forward in the form of a question? Based on your observations and your memory of how people respond to you, make positive changes.

Have a Mentor - Having a mentor in the business is a great idea.  Observe how they deal with challenges, how they answer questions, with questions, observe their actions and their attitudes in building their business.

Develop your awareness of what you are doing and the results you are getting- adjust and make changes as required. The GPN StepTracker is my way of ensuring that people are aware of their daily actions and are accountable to themselves. The tracking of their activities allows them to pinpoint areas that need corrections, this takes courage.

Napoleon Hill says “People who do not succeed have one distinguishing trait in common. They know all the reasons for failure, and have what they believe to be air tight alibis to explain away their own lack of achievement.”

"It has always been a mystery to me why people spend so much time deliberately fooling themselves by creating alibis to cover their weaknesses. If used differently, this same time would be sufficient time to cure their weakness, then no alibis would needed" - Anonymous

Courage is the most important characteristic of a Blue Diamond Executive.  One must have courage to face failures that get in the way of success. Courage is required to persistently persevere through adversity and the ups and downs in your efforts.  Have the courage to be accountable to yourself, have no excuses, no rationalizations or justifications.

You are the president and CEO of your business and your success depends on you-   the company intends to double in size, in my opinion, they will do it.  What are you going to do?

Make excuses or cultivate and develop courage?
It is up to you.
